Ritualist beheads lady in Yola hotel

Police in Adamawa state, Nigeria, have begun the search for a suspected ritualist who killed and beheaded a woman in a hotel in Yola North Local Government Area on January 18.

Reports say, the deceased was beheaded by a suspected ritualist who lodged in the hotel with the lady. The ritualist told the receptionist that he wanted to go and buy something outside, but failed to return back and on checking in his room, the staff found the headless body of the young lady.

The incident was immediately reported to the police. The state Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, ordered an immediate investigation into the matter to apprehend the perpetrator and collaborators of the dastardly act for prosecution.

The CP in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, warned that the killing of innocent citizens would no longer be tolerated under whatever guise.

Nguroje said, the Command holds the lives of all Citizens sacrosanct, and such unwarranted acts would be strictly treated in accordance with extant laws. He equally reiterated the commitment of the Command to protecting lives and property while stressing that it is vital to work with other sister security agents in protecting the fundamental rights of all citizens to enable them to advance their sacred mandate of serving and protecting the citizens better.

The police Boss appealed for calm as the top management of all security agencies are doing everything legally possible to arrest and bring the culprit to book.
