Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky has released a video commemorating victory over Nazi Germany in the Second World War and saying his country will win its current war with Russia.
In the video released, Monday, May 9, Zelensky also said Ukraine would not give “a single piece of our land” to Russia.
“We are fighting for a new victory. The road to it is difficult but we have no doubt that we will win,” he says.
Russia is also marking the anniversary today with its annual Victory Day parades across the country. Victory Day is a holiday that commemorates the victory over Nazi Germany in 1945. It was first inaugurated in the 15 republics of the Soviet Union, following the signing of the German Instrument of Surrender on 9 May.
