Veteran musician, Sir Victor Olaiya has appealed to the chairman of Coker Aguda Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State, Bolanle Akinyemi-Obe to stop threatening him.
It may be necessary for well-meaning Nigerians to come to the aid of the legendary Highlife singer, Sir Victor Olaiya as the old man is said to have since lost his peace due to threats and pressure he’s allegedly receiving from the chairman of Coker Aguda Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Ms Bolanle Akinyemi-Obe.

According to a reliable source, the LCDA chairman has been threatening Dr Olaiya for months over a street named after the musician, allegedly saying the musician must pay a staggering amount of money if the name of the street has to remain.

The source also alleged that Ms Akinyemi-Obe is executing a clandestine agenda to rename the street after a friend of hers who is alleged to have promised to make payment of huge amount of money for that purpose.

Many who are aware of the threat being posed on the life of the old man by Ms Akinyemi-Obe are afraid it might lead to an unwanted situation for him as the pressure is said to be having devastating effect on his state of health.

They frown at the position of the Council boss as her action is perceived to be one targeted at ridiculing the octogenarian by stripping him of what the man could point at as part of honor done on him for his contributions to the country through music entertainment.

The street, it was learnt has been named after Olaiya long before Ms Bolanle Akinyemi-Obe was even born.

Part of the efforts to ensure stripping the legendary singer of the honour, is a notice from the LCDA office that has been posted on Sir Victor Olaiya’s house on Victor Olaiya Avenue in Aguda, Surulere, Lagos State.

Content of the notice is said to be threatening to revoke his name from the street and give it to any interested individual who might be willing to pay if Dr Olaiya fails to pay up. One Fouad is also alleged to have been calling to mount pressure on the old man on the instruction of Ms Akinyemi-Obe.

Sir Victor Olaiya who is 88 years of age, is said to have been bed ridden for some time which means he can’t stand any pressure at the moment.

Musicians, lovers of Olaiya and residents of the area who feel concerned about the old man’s plight in the hand of Ms Akinyemi-Obe are said to be planning a protest walk against the LCDA boss for her insensitivity.

In the same vein, some are of the opinion that Ms Akinyemi-Obe’s action might cost the ruling party, APC, the area because elections are just weeks away.
