The US president, Donald Trump has nominated a Federal Court of Appeal Judge, Neil Gorsuch as a Supreme Court nominee to fill the vacant position created by the demise of late Justice Antonin Scalia.
Trump named Gorsuch at the presence of Republican Senators on Tuesday evening. Gorsuch who came to the arena in company of his wife of 20 years promised that he will interpret the US constitution as it should be.
His nomination is still subject to the confirmation of the US Senate. Whether he would get a smooth confirmation is yet to be seen because the Democrats may retaliate what the Republican Senators did to the Obama’s last nominee, Justice Merrick Garland, who would have filled the vacant position about a year ago if the Republican Senators had allowed him access to the Senate chamber for confirmation. Republicans did not give him hearing.
