Nigerian queen of song, Tiwa Savage has released the video of her highly rated and expected single, ’49-99′.
Tiwa disclosed in a press release that 49-99 reflects the “hard life many Nigerians go through.”
She goes on to mention that “a transit bus serves as a case study.”
”49-99 is a phrase coined by Fela Anikulapo Kuti who is the godfather of afrobeat and it is a transit bus in Nigeria called the ”Molue” where you have 49 seats but you have twice as many people standing and hanging which is a reflection again of the level of poverty in Nigeria where the rich is getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. So, that’s what the song means, we are suffering and smiling,” she disclosed.
