Akeredolu, in his own case, studied Law at the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) and later set up a successful legal practice in Ibadan.
Akeredolu was appointed as Attorney General of Ondo State and served from 1997–1999. In 1998 he became a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). He served as Chairman of the Legal Aid Council (2005–2006).
