State High Court Judge, driver kidnapped, orderly killed in Nigeria

A High Court Judge in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, Hon. Justice Joy Unwana, has been kidnapped while her orderly was killed in the process.

Justice Unwana and her driver, Idorinyin Ekanem, while returning to Uyo after a long and last court session for the year, were at about 8 pm kidnapped on Monday along the Okobo-Esuk Inwang – Ndon Ebom road by gunmen.

Her police orderly, Inspector ThankGod  Edet was killed in the attack.

NBA Chairman in the Oron Branch, Torosco Eyene Esq., led members in a protest singing solidarity songs and displayed placards with various inscriptions condemning the killing and kidnap.

He disclosed that members of the association have scheduled a meeting on the development with the State Commissioner of Police and DSS on Wednesday.

“Yes, the Judge in Oron was kidnapped on Monday on her way back to Uyo, after a Court sitting. On Wednesday, we are moving down to Uyo to meet with the Commissioner of Police (CP) Olatoye Durusinmi, and the Director of Department of State Services (DSS) on the issue,” he said.
