Tourists in the Samburu National Reserve in Kenya were treated to a rare spectacle – a pride of lions attacking and killing a large crocodile. The crocodile had gotten too close to the carcass of an elephant the lions had claimed, and they were displeased by the intrusion. The crocodile was taught a swift lesson in manners – it was possibly the last one it ever learned. The confrontation between two of Africa’s (and the world’s) most dominant apex predators was truly incredible.
At first, one of the lions nonchalantly investigated the crocodile
The Samburu Reserve runs along the banks of Kenya’s Ewasgo Ng’iro river. It borders the Buffalo Springs National Reserve, and is 64 square miles large. Nairobi, Kenya’s capital city, is 217 miles away.
The Reserve is home to a huge diversity of wildlife, including many apex predators like lions and crocodiles. Here, what starts as a staring match gets much more serious. Click ahead to see the fireworks. (Daily Mail.co.uk).
