Barrister Segun Awolowo Senior died when his family was facing their toughest political persecution. He died untimely when his father, Chief Obafemi Awolowo was facing a treasonable felony charge with some of his loyalists in the high court. In spite of the sudden death of Segun Snr, his dad, Chief Obafemi Awolowo was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment by the powers that be.
From our parents, we got a song regarding barrister Segun senior’s grief, which they said, they listened to from their ‘one station’ Redifusion being ancored from Ibadan, the headquarters of western region at the time.
The song: “Olusegun, aja-segun, iroju aiye po, jowo tete wa oooooooo.” (re mi mi re, do do mi re, do mi mi re mi do, do mi do do mi do-oooooo). May he continue to rest in peace.

Bode Dolu is correct
This is very misleading. I read an interview Mama Abba Folawiyo granted a local tabloid and she said she had Segun junior for Chief Awolowo himself. Why mislead the public.
Is Segun one of Papa Awolowo’s names? If not, why would a son that he sired be someone else’s junior?
Brother Anthony Olorunnisola, thanks for your inquiry. Papa Awolowo had a lawyer son – Segun Awolowo Sr. who died in an auto accident during Papa’s criminal trial travail in the early 60s. A lady was pregnant for lawyer Segun Awolowo Sr. before he died and she gave birth to a Babyboy who was named Segun Awolowo Jnr. to fill the vacuum.
Thank you very much Bode for the clarification, Segun Awolowo jnr is papa Awolowo’s grandson, his parents are the late Segun Awolowo ( may his soul Rest In Peace) and Mrs Abbah Folawiyo, correct?
Nothing is misleading, Mama Folawiyo gave birth to Segun Awolowo Jnr. whom she bored for late Barr. Segun Awolowo snr. who is a first son of late chief Obafemi Awolowo. So Segun Jnr is a grandson of cheif Obafemi Awolowo.
