In 1970, Sunny Ade and Fela Kuti were already making waves in their music careers. That was when men were still boys. Those were the days of Fela’s “Jeun ko ku o, ode. Waki and die, o de… Onigbese, e ba mi le lo o” and Sunny’s “Sunny tide, e simi ariwo pelu agbaja… Anjonu onigita (The master guitarist).” Then, it was Sunny Ade & His Green Spot Band while Fela’s own was Fela Ransome-Kuti and His Africa ’70. They changed the names of their bands severally thereafter. How time flies.
