Yakubu Gowon was a bachelor when he took over as Nigeria’s military Head of State in 1966. He was still one of the boys even though he had the power of life and death in his possession as Nigeria’s Head of State. Except for the privileges attached to his high office then, he would have been cooking for himself as a bachelor.
Yes, in the midst of that and the attendant office duties, he chose to quit bachelorhood in 1969 when he got married to Victoria. Here are some of the pictures of that occasion.
