Retired Supreme Court Justice, Adolphus Karibi-Whyte dies

Justice Adolphus Godwin Karibi-Whyte, retired Justice of Nigerian Supreme Court, is dead. The retired judge died at the age of 88.

His son, Gogo confirmed his father’s death saying he died in Port Harcourt.

He was called to the bar in 1961 and was appointed judge of the federal revenue court in 1976 after obtaining a doctorate degree in law.

He rose to the court of appeal four years later, and was promoted to the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 1984.

A highly respected academic and prolific writer with high moral standard, he had many publications on law and justice to his credit including: The Federal High Court: Law and Practice (1984) and The Relevance of the Judiciary in the Policy: In Historical Perspective. (1987)

The late jurist left behind seven children.
