Piers Morgan has left his role as a presenter on Good Morning Britain, ITV has announced.
His exit comes after broadcasting regulator Ofcom launched an investigation after it received more than 41,000 complaints regarding comments made by the presenter following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.
In a statement announcing Piers’ exit, ITV said: “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.
“ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”
Meghan Markle opened up about feeling suicidal during her time in the Royal Family in her explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.
After the interview aired, Piers Morgan said on TV while reacting to the interview: “I’m sorry, I don’t believe a word she says. I wouldn’t believe her if she read me a weather report.”
Morgan’s statement about Meghan and Harry angered a lot of people and they called him out. Piers Morgan’s co-host, Alex Beresford, also called him out on TV and it resulted in Morgan walking out on live TV.
