Announcing the third senatorial result on Monday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said that the candidate of the PDP, Osinachukwu Ideozu, won Rivers West senatorial district with 107,166 votes, defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Otelemaba Amachree who polled 48,898 votes.
A PDP candidate, George Sekibo, had earlier been declared winner of the Rivers East senatorial district, while Rivers South East senatorial district was clinched by APC candidate, Magnus Abe.
The closest rival to the APC candidate was Olaka Wogu of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Meanwhile, the state legislative rerun poll in some parts of Etche Local Government Area is to be re-conducted on Wednesday, following cases of violence which hindered the exercise there on Saturday.
It is the second time that the electoral body is conducting legislative election in some Local Government Areas in the state, but violence marred polls again in some areas. (Channels TV)
