The Daily Post has reported that the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday urged Prof. Akasoba Duke-Abiola to collect her Presidential Expression of Interest and Nomination forms.
The party said despite the one week extension it granted to accommodate teeming party faithful interested in running for respective offices, which expires Friday, the aspirant has stayed away.
PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, in a statement noted that Prof. Duke-Abiola willfully refused to collect her Expression of Interest form with Code number PD002/P and serial number 0000003 and Nomination form with Code number PD003/P and serial number 0000003 even after it was sent to her through her lawyers.
According to him, the aspirant’s refusal to collect the forms suggests an ulterior motive, adding that other aspirants, including Dr. Ghalil Tafawa Balewa and President Goodluck Jonathan had collected their forms.
The party expressed surprise that Prof Duke-Abiola, chose to go to court instead of taking advantage of the extension, which expires today to collect her forms.
Aspirants still have until the close of today to collect her forms, the PDP said failure to do so would mean she was not interested in the contest, but was out to cause confusion and foment trouble in the party.
