The 16-year old marriage between a popular Pastor, Abayomi Adegboyega and his wife, Risikat, is reportedly in the air in Lagos over inability of the wife to meet up with his high sex demands.
According to PM Express, the fight worsened to the extent that Abayomi had threatened publicly that he would commit suicide if nothing was done to remedy the situation by separating him with his wife because of her attitude of denying him sex.
The marriage had produced four children and Risikat was no longer disposed to the idea of regular sex which became the source of constant quarrels between them. The issue degenerated to the extent that Abayomi was unable to bear it any longer and he had to throw both Risikat and the children away from home.
The wife was said to be rationing sex and only obliged whenever Abayomi enticed her with gifts or settled her with some money before she would agree to play ball. Thus, that led to constant fights at night to the extent that their neighbours had intervened and were at a loss how to resolve the matter.
However, the fight took another dimension after Abayomi had sent her away and went to the Igando Customary Court in Lagos to seek for the dissolution of their marriage.
The 48-year old pastor, Abayomi, alleged in Court that his wife, Risikat, 39 always demands ‘bribe’ from him before sex and would deny him if he did not meet her conditions.
“My wife starves me of sex, she will never allow me to sleep with her unless I give her money or buy her a gift” he said.
He said that he will kill himself if the Court will not dissolve the union which had produced four children, PM Express reports.
“Risikat should never come near me, I do not want to have anything to do with her again.
“She is irritating me, I will kill myself if the loveless marriage is not dissolved” he told the court.
The petitioner also alleged that his wife cooked his food late and tarnished his image in public.
“My wife wants my ministry to collapse, she defames my character before my members and others; people who want to help me refuse because of what they hear from her” he said.
He added that Risikat also fought his church members.
However, his wife, Risikat, denied all the allegations and accused him of threatening her life with charms.
“My husband told me that he would use charms to destroy my life; indeed, after few weeks, I was very sick; everywhere my family took me to, they said it was a spiritual attack” the trader alleged.
The mother of four claimed that she never denied Abayomi sex or cooked his food late. She also denied fighting her husband or members of his church. The respondent accused her husband of beating her at the slightest provocation. She added that Abayomi chased her and the children out of her matrimonial home nine months ago without sending money for their upkeep.
“He is just looking for excuses to dump me. If he wants to marry another wife, he should go ahead instead of making false allegations against me” she said.
She prayed the Court not to dissolve the union, saying that she still loved him in spite of his misbehaviour.
The President of the Court, Mr. Adeniyi Koledoye, urged both parties to maintain the peace and forgive each other for the sake of their children.
He adjourned the case till 11th July, 2019 for judgment.
