Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi II, on Monday, held a meeting with the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and Ekiti Obas.
The meeting was to mediate in the conflict between the original 16 first class traditional rulers and the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers cum the Ekiti state government.
Recall that Alaafin of Oyo wrote a letter to the governor of Ekiti state, which he said he did in representative capacity for himself and three other Obas – Ooni of Ife, Awujale of Ijebu Ode and Alake of Egbaland.
Alaafin wrote the letter in reaction to the query the Ekiti state government issued to 16 traditional rulers who filed a suit to assert that they are the originally recognised Obas for ‘Pelupelu’. And that only 16 of them should rotate the chairmanship of the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers.
