National Union of Road Transports Workers (NURTW) Ondo State Chapter chairman, Jacob Adebo, aka ‘Idajo’ has been arrested by men of the Nigeria Police.
Adebo, alleged to be an ally to the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, was on Friday, picked up by men of the Force Criminal Investigations Department, FCID from the Lagos State Police Command.
Arrest of the NURTW boss is coming on the heels of a petition written to the Inspector General of Police, over the recent siege on the Ondo State House of Assembly as well as attack on some members who impeached the erstwhile Speaker, Bamidele Oleyelogun and his deputy, Iroju Ogundeji.
Confirming the arrest, the Ondo state Police Public Relations Officer, Femi Joseph, said that Adebo was arrested by security officers from Lagos who stormed Ondo state for his arrest.
His words, “Yes, it is true but I can only say he was invited because our men came from Lagos and moved him out of Ondo State.
A source stated that the arrest might not be unconnected with the crisis engulfing the Ondo State House of Assembly as well as subsequent petition against Adebo.
“He must have been arrested due to the petition written against him as regards the the attack on lawmakers of the Ondo State House of Assembly.
“I learned those guys are from Alagbon, Lagos state who must have been acting from order from above and the petition.”
It would be recalled that 16 aggrieved lawmakers of the Ondo State House of Assembly had recently petitioned the Inspector General of Police over the attack at the Assembly allegedly by Adebo who was believed to be working on the orders of the state governor, Gov Akeredolu.
