President of Nigerian Senate, Mr. Ahmad Lawan has on Thursday sworn in a former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, as a senator.
Okorocha was not inaugurated on Tuesday because he had yet to collect his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The returning officer for the February 2019 Imo West Senatorial District election, Professor Francis Ibeawuchi, had claimed that he was held at gun point to declare Okorocha as winner of that election and that he had to obey such pressure for fear for his life.
The election result is being contested at the election tribunal.
At the moment, the former governor will represent the Imo West Senatorial District at the red chamber.
