Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has finally issued former Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha, a certificate of return for winning the February 23rd Senatorial election in Imo West.
Okorocha was declared winner of the February 23 election but the returning officer, Innocent Ibeabuchi, said he was forced to make the declaration. The Certificate of Return was then withheld by INEC.
Two court judgements by state high courts barred the electoral body from issuing the Certificate. However, Justice Abang of the Federal High Court Abuja however ordered the commission to issue Okorocha the certificate immediately.
Well, INEC this evening obeyed the judgement and has issued him the certificate
