Gunmen assassinate Ogun chief and his wife in Lagos

Gunmen suspected to be assassins have killed a husband and his wife in Allen Avenue, Ikeja area of Lagos State, Nigeria.

Engineer Femi Egbeoluwa, the Sogunro of Ilaro-Yewa in Ogun State, and his wife were murdered in the early hours of Saturday, March 18, 2023.

The killers were said to have gained entrance into their home at 1 Adefolu drive, near New World Hotel, Allen Avenue.

It was gathered that following the receipt of the distress call, some of the neighbours rushed to the house where they found the Egbeoluwas dead and their domestic staff left in a pool of blood.

A police source, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the incident while speaking with the Nigerian Tribune.

“The man is a chief from Ilaro in Ogun State. We got the report on Saturday. The man and his wife were assassinated, while their house help was also injured,” the source said.

The spokesperson of the State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident, stated that the investigation is ongoing.

“Investigation is ongoing. Policemen have visited the scene. The house help was found unconscious but she is responding to treatment now in the hospital,” the PPRO said.

“The case has been transferred to the homicide section of the state Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba. SCID,Panti. No suspect yet.”

It was further gathered that late Egbeoluwa was the Permanent Secretary of the then Bureau of Transportation during the Otunba Gbenga Daniel led- administration in Ogun State.
