The 7 Division of Nigerian Army has imposed a total ban on vehicular movement in Borno State from 6.00am on Thursday, January 1, 2015 to 6.00pm on Friday, January 2. The two days have been declared public holidays by the Federal Government to commemorate the New Year Celebration and Eid-el Moulud respectively.

In a press release signed by the Spokesperson of the Division, Colonel Sani Usman, the military said the directive implies that movement by animals (horses), bicycles, motorcycles, tri-cycles and motor vehicles are totally banned in the state during the specified period.

Colonel Usman said that the restriction is informed by the need to ensure adequate protection of lives and property of law abiding citizens of Borno State throughout the period.

He urged the public to report any suspicious movement of persons or vehicles around their environments to the nearest security agencies
