Nigeria’s National Judicial Council (NJC), is currently holding an emergency meeting in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
The meeting, which is ongoing, is convened as part of the moves to resolve the legal controversy resulting from the suspension of Justice Water Onnoghen as the Chief Justice of Nigeria.
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had on Friday last week suspended Justice Onnoghen as CJN following ex-parte order by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).
The suspension of Justice Onnoghen has triggered sharp criticisms from lawyers, other various quarters, including the international community.
The suspended CJN is facing a 6-count charge of false assets declaration at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
