Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO), US chapter opposes Buhari

According to Vanguard newspaper, there is a groundswell of opposition from Nigerians in the Diaspora against the candidate of Buhari in the February 14 presidential election.

The opposition against the former military ruler is being championed by the United States chapter of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO), the flagship association of Nigerians living abroad.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Hilton Garden, Washington DC, Hon. Victor Ugho, the immediate past Vice-President of NIDO, who is the current President of the Georgia State chapter of the association with headquarters in Atlanta, urged the former Head of State to perish the thought of becoming the next president of the country, saying that the world has moved past the likes of Buhari.

Ugho regretted that Buhari has allowed himself to be pushed around by some people whom, he said, were looking for ways to cause more pains to Nigeria. He noted that Buhari, as Head of State, had ample opportunity to turn the country around, stressing that, “as a matter of sincerity, I do not think Buhari is the best candidate for Nigeria at this period in time. He was there as Head of State, what did he do?

“Again, he has not told us what he is going to do differently.  We need continuity; the choice should not be based on tribal sentiment. Let him tell us how he is going to fix the so-called terrible situation he has identified.  We need somebody who will not bring disunity.”

Also speaking, the Public Relations Officer of NIDO, Mr. Ndubusi George called on Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora to think wisely and vote for the right candidate in next month’s presidential election. (Vanguard).

  1. I am very disappointed about what the so called head of and member of diaspora said about General Buhari that what did he do when he was head of state during the military era.if you don’t know Buhari and Idiagbon fort corruption before Bambang ida sent them away because of their own selfish end . Pls if you are not current on Nigeria history keep quiet.

  2. These are discredited people in a government formed and funded organization. NIDO was formed during President Obasanjo’s and encouraged by him. It is strange how far our people can go to make money. They are obtused to the sufferring of Nigerians and have now blanket all Nigerians as against Buhari which is a big lie.

  3. When do one or two people’s opinions become NIGERIANS in diaspora? These are two Igbos trying to sell their candidate. Almost all Nigerians abroad are against the Jonathan administration. Do not exaggerate two peoples opinion as a representative of millions of Nigerians abroad.

  4. What is wrong with this people speaking on behalf of the people in diasporal. Nobody contacted me for my opinion and i’m not comfortable about the fact that the two credited with this are from the East. I wondered how much they were paid to present this one sided opinion. They could have spend time to ellaborate on what archievement their principal benefactor has made in the almost six years of his presidency.

  5. I disagree with your write-up. This is your own opinion. Buhari is who we want now and not a clueless selfish individual who has all the opportunities to turn the country and did nothing to better the country. The problem with Nigerians is “me” mentality. Your opinion mean nothing because you are paid to do it.
