It appears now that Nigerian Supreme Court may have on Friday reinstated Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), even though it didn’t specifically pronounce him as such.

This is because the Nigeria’s apex Court, in a unanimous judgment of a five-member panel said the matters bordering on the leadership or membership of a political party is its internal affair and should not be the business of a Court.

‎The court proceeded to set aside the decision of Appeal Court, Enugu Division which on 20 December 2024 affirmed the removal of Anyanwu by a Federal High Court in Enugu.

It went further to hold that the Federal High Court which originally heard it lacked jurisdiction to have heard the matter instituted by Aniagwu Emmanuel.

PDP has envisaged this type of ruling when one of them, Ikenga Ugochinyere (Reps member) said the party’s NWC members should be able to use their majority to choose whoever they want between Anyanwu and Sunday Ude-Okoye as their acting national secretary.

Last February, the Party’s NWC members voted to choose Ude-Okoye over Anyanwu as their acting national secretary..
