A Morgan State University student was killed Thursday night after a violent head-on collision in Largo.
Around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Maryland State Police responded to MD 202 at Old Largo Rd. When officers arrived, they found a white Cadillac DeVille and a silver Nissan Altima with damage from the crash.
According to police, the driver of the Cadillac, which was traveling southbound on MD 202, lost control and crossed the center line directly into the path of the oncoming Nissan.
The driver of the Nissan, identified as 20-year-old Adedire Olanrewaju Ososanya of Upper Marlboro, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Cadillac, 30-year-old James Scott Calero of Bowie, was transported to Prince George’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
An accident reconstruction team was called to the scene which shut down MD 202 for several hours. All lanes were reopened just before 5:30 a.m.
Ososanya was a junior at Morgan State studying businesses, a fraternity brother of Ososanya’s told WUSA9. He also said the late student was a leader at the university.
The investigation is ongoing.
Calero has a history of driving violations, including driving or attempting to drive while under the influence, leaving the scene of a crash while someone was hurt, assault on a police officer.

Ososanya had joined the Pi chapter of Omega Psi Phi at Morgan State about four weeks before his death.
Student Andrew Egiefameh, a senior, said, “Dire was a very special individual. He was great. He is great and he only had potential to be greater. … I think everybody, not just my line brothers, but anybody can say that about him. Everybody is just filled with love and laughter right now. It’s just a tough time because you just lost somebody that you just crossed into the fraternity and it’s just like he’s just gone. It’s only been a month.”
Daniel Olumese, who told ABC2 that he met Dire in high school and have been best friends ever since, said, “I’m not going to lie. I don’t really like it. I don’t like it a bit, because this isn’t fair. I see pictures of him with wings on his back and I’m like this isn’t how it’s supposed to be. We had plans. All of us had plans. We were supposed to go places. We were supposed to do things.”
Also a student at the black college, Daniel was one of at least 200 students who gathered in the academic quad to pray and to remember Dire’s life Friday night.
Adedire Olanrewaju Ososanya was laid to rest Wednesday in Landover.
Very sad. May the Lord rest his soul and comfort his loved ones left behind. Amen.
