Nigerian lady, Ewaoluwa Olatunji, popularly known as Ewa Cole, has been certified by the Guinness World Records (GWR) as the new record holder of the longest marathon singing of Christmas songs.
Ewa Cole, a singer, embarked on 24 hours of singing Christmas songs from December 27 to 28, and completed the task in 31 hours.
The certification by the GWR sees Ewa become the first holder of the record in the world.
In her attempt to set the record, she did a rendition of several classic Christmas songs such as ‘Deck the Halls’, ‘Frosty the Snowman’ and ‘Silent Night’.
The exercise took place at No 14, Louis Solomon Close, Heritage Apartments, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Ewa earlier took to her Instagram page to share a video of herself and well-wishers after she surpassed her target.
The post reads:
“Our girl did it! Stand up for the champion!
31 hours of singing Christmas carols nonstop.
The minimum requirement was 24 hours.”
“We are so excited and can’t wait for a feedback from @guinessworldrecords. Ewa Cole’s the longest marathon of Christmas song, ended the night with 31 hours and two minutes
“An accumulative of 24 hours achieved initially and 7 hours and 2 minutes. Thank you everyone for your support. We are grateful.”
Ewa Cole now joins the growing list of Nigerians who have attempted to set new world records since the beginning of 2023.
In June 2023, Guinness World Records crowned 27 year old Nigerian chef, Hilda Effiong Bassey popularly known as Hilda Baci as record holder for the longest cooking by an individual.
