The lawmaker representing Aba North/South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Ossy Chinedu Prestige, is dead.

Prestige reportedly died of a protracted illness on Monday.

The late lawmaker, who was elected on the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), was 56 years old.

Spokesperson for the House of Reps, Benjamin Kalu, confirmed Prestige’s death, saying, “He has been confirmed dead by a family member.

“The house will resume and adjourn plenary as our tradition permits for the next day.”

Prestige, who is the third member of Nigeria’s lower legislative chamber to have died in the ninth assembly, passed away in Bad Salzhausen, Nidda, Germany.
