Gospel singer, Timilehin Ajayi, has been arrested for allegedly killing and dismembering his 24-year-old girlfriend, Salome Enejo, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), serving in Abuja, for suspected ritual purposes.
Timileyin, who is known as a multi-talented gospel singer, prolific songwriter, vocalist, and recording and performing artiste, was apprehended on Sunday near a church in the Orozo area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Videos making the rounds on social media suggested that Timileyin was seen carrying a black nylon bag with flies following him. The suspect said to be from Kabba in Kogi State, was accosted and searched, only to discover that he was carrying a fresh human head that appeared to be his girlfriend’s.
Sharing the video, a social media user who identified herself as Arike wrote: “I got the shock of my life as we apprehended a Yahoo ritual with human head (his girlfriend) inside a nylon close to our church as we were holding service. I thought I just used to watch things like this until i experienced one ‘Live’ today.”
Meanwhile, the spokesperson (PPRO) of the Nasarawa Police Command, Ramhan Nansel told newsmen that the suspect was rescued from being mobbed by the vengeful crowd who caught him with the severed head.
He added that further investigation uncovered the rest of the mutilated body inside the suspect’s apartment.
Nansel said: “The suspect was found with a fresh human head, and when we got to the scene, we rescued him from being mobbed by the ones who accosted him.
“During the investigation at his place of residence, we found two sacks filled with the victim’s dismembered body. The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Salome Enejo; her parents have been contacted and have identified her. She is a National Youth Service Corps member, serving in Abuja.
“The suspect is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital; he was injured when we rescued him. A thorough investigation has commenced.”
