Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari has dissolved the governing boards of federal parastatals, agencies and institutions with immediate effect.
Until the boards are reconstituted, their chief executive officers are to refer all matters requiring the attention of their boards to the President, through the Permanent Secretaries of their supervising ministries.
“While the dissolution does not affect federal executive bodies listed in the 1999 Constitution, it covers administrative or technical committees and other similar organs established by the now dissolved boards”, Adesina said.
The President had earlier sacked the Board of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
President Buhari has also sacked the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Mr. Patrick Ziakede Akpobolokemi.
Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Femi Adesina, in a statement, said the sack is with immediate effect.
Akpobolokemi will hand over to the most senior officer in the agency, who will remain in charge until a new director-general is appointed.
The sacked DG was reappointed by former President Goodluck Jonathan on December 23, 2014.
