A statement issued by the Metropolitan Police on Thursday, said officers were called by London Ambulance Service to reports of a man stabbed in Pier Road. E16 at around 20:10hrs on Wednesday, November 8.

Officers attended the scene and found Ajobo,  suffering critical injuries. Officers administered first aid prior to the arrival of London Ambulance Service.

The victim was taken to an east London hospital, where he was pronounced dead at around 21:30hrs.

A post-mortem examination took place at East Ham Mortuary on Friday, 10 November and gave cause of death as a stab wound.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command have launched an investigation and officers returned to the scene on the evening of Wednesday, 15 November – one week on from the murder – to hand out appeal leaflets and urge local people to provide any information they may have.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Holmes who leads the investigation said:

“We are working tirelessly to bring those who murdered Adetokunbo to justice. I believe that several young men were involved and I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this attack or who may have information about it to please come forward.

“If people have concerns then I assure them they can share any such information in the strictest of confidence. You can also report information anonymously through the charity Crimestoppers.

“My officers will be at the scene of the murder tonight, marking one week since this tragic and mindless attack. If you have information which could assist us I would please urge you to get in contact.

A 21-year-old man who died after being stabbed in Newham has been named.

Adetokunbo Ajobo, known by his middle name Jordan, was pronounced dead in hospital after being attacked by a group of men in Pier Road, North Woolwich a week ago.

No arrests have been made but officers from the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command are continuing to investigate.

Police are returning to the scene this evening to hand out appeal leaflets and urge local people to provide any information they may have.
