Oath of office has been administered on the new Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, during the Senate plenary on Thursday.
The oath was administered on her by the Clerk of the Senate, Mr. Chinedu Akubueze, at about 11:41 am.
She thereafter proceeded to have an handshake with the Senate President who handed over to her a copy of the Senate Standing Rules.
Akpoti-Uduaghan was later led to her seat by the sergeant at arms after exchange of pleasantries with her colleagues.
Nigeria’s Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, had on Monday, affirmed that Akpoti-Uduaghan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was the duly elected candidate for Kogi Central Senatorial Election on February 25, this year.
The appellate court dismissed the appeal filed by Senator Abubakar Ohere for lacking in merit.
Earlier in September, the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Lokoja had nullified the victory of Ohere of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared that Akpoti-Uduaghan was the actual winner of the February senatorial poll.
Dissatisfied with the judgment, Ohere had headed to the appellate court to seek redress but the court further upheld Akpoti-Uduaghan as the winner of the poll.
