40-year-old Nigerian lawyer, Abayomi Oladire, was stabbed by his client’s husband while performing his legal duty in the Ondo West Local Government Area of the state.
According to the state-owned newspaper, The Hope, the suspect identified as Kunle Kuteyi, used a broken bottle to stab the lawyer for allegedly helping his wife to prepare a divorce suit against him.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening around 4 pm, July 14, 2024, in Ondo city.
It was gathered that the lawyer was on his way to his sister’s baby naming ceremony when the suspect stopped him and accused him of having an affair with his wife to the extent of helping her file for divorce against him.
The discussion had barely lasted few minutes when an argument broke out between Oladire and the suspect.
The argument later escalated into the suspect stabbing the victim with a broken bottle.
It was learnt that the victim was stabbed viciously all over his body and was rescued by sympathizers in the area, who took him to the nearest hospital for treatment, while the suspect fled.
