The Director General of Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr Muda Yusuf, has urged the Federal Executive Council of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, to evolve policies that would stimulate economic growth of the country.
Yusuf told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that the chamber was pleased that the long awaited cabinet members, had been assigned portfolios.
Yusuf urged the minsters to drive economic transformation of the country through formulation of positive policy framework in all the key sectors of the economy, to aid strategic planning.
He stressed the need for an urgent collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria to review the foreign exchange policy.
Yusuf noted that the policy had negatively impacted on many industries, with most of them are on the verge of closure.
According to him, unless restriction is relaxed, it will be difficult to attract new investments or sustain existing ones in the real sector of the economy.
He said the collaboration should involve the Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, Minister of Budget and National Planning, Mr Udo Udo Udoma and Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr Okechukwu Enelamah.
Yusuf also emphasised the importance of availability of quality infrastructure as a factor that would drive economic development and reduce the cost of doing business in the country.
He urged Mr Babatunde Fashola, Minister of Power, Works and Housing and Mr Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of Transportation, to strengthen the economy through speedy delivery of required infrastructures.
He also called for reforms in the oil and gas sector of the economy to stimulate investment. (Today.ng)
