Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Sokoto, Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah has lamented that there was no other place on earth where human lives were slaughtered anyhow without the perpetrators caught and brought to face justice like in Nigeria.
He spoke at the 3rd General Assembly and peace conference with the theme: ”Inter-Religious Dialogue: Strengthening the Culture of Peace, Reconciliation and Justice”, in Abuja on Wednesday.
Kukah stressed that Nigeria must move from talking to taking action.
He noted that the country must find a way to end wanton killings of innocent citizens, saying that it was time for religious leaders “to step aside and allow Nigerians confront the government themselves”.
Speaking recently in the United Kingdom with Catholic Charity Aid to the Church in Need, the cleric accused the Buhari government of sidelining Christians in appointments.
Kukah added at the Catholic Charity Aid, “The only difference between the government and Boko Haram is (that) Boko Haram is holding a bomb.
The President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Samson Ayokunle, who refused to speak at the conference, stressed that all the previous Interfaith dialogue did not yield any fruit.
According to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), over 300 religious leaders attended the conference.
Every indication points to the duplicitous legacy of the Buhari administration. You employed irrefutably non-defiant Islamic fundamentalists and terrorists in all spheres of Nigerian security system and you placate your evil agenda by going to the press to remonstrate your efforts to cob violence. The world is watching carefully, someone has to be reminded that this is a twenty first century world, not stone age. We will see where your antics would land you and those working with you externally. We know all of them. There is always a consequence for every action now or later, but come it must!
