Laborer dies as bank building collapses in Lagos (photos)

A labourer whose name has not been revealed has died after a Keystone Bank building at Palmgroove collapsed in Lagos, Nigeria, on Saturday evening, March 7.

The storey building located along Ikorodu Road, was undergoing renovation when it caved in at about 7:20pm. The deceased was amongst the laborers working on the site when it collapsed.

Men of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Police, Lagos State Building Control Agency (LABSCA) and fire service were at the scene of the incident.

Confirming the incident, the Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said efforts were ongoing to rescue the remaining victims, adding that emergency responders, including officials of the Lagos State Fire Service, men of the Nigeria Police Force, among others were on ground.
