The first and what may be the only meeting between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris of this abbreviated campaign season is in the books. Tuesday’s debate started off on a cordial note, with a handshake between the two candidates.

As the night wore on, it got combative with Harris repeatedly baiting Trump into talking about his weakest issues. She is largely being spoken of as the winner of in the post-debate coverage. Whether that will be enough to give her the lift she needs in an extraordinarily tight race is another question.

Even, Fox News chief political analyst Brit Hume said, Kamala Harris ‘came out ahead’ in the debate, saying she successfully baited Donald Trump.

“Make no mistake about it–Trump had a bad night,” Hume said in post-debate analysis on Fox.

Harris was “composed, she was prepared… she kept her cool,” he continued. “She saw advantages. She took them. She baited him successfully, which was the story of the debate in my view. So she came out ahead in this, in my opinion, no doubt. Now whether it will move the needle in the race, very few thing seem to, but that remains to be seen.”
