For many, the action of Mr. President is in disregard of the current security situation in the country, making security agencies to put in place stringent security measures to ensure that the event does not record any ugly incident.

President Jonathan’s grand entry into the arena and his mingling with the huge crowd of supporters has been interpreted by some analysts who spoke with DailyPost as a populist move, meant to douse the ongoing tension in the land.

Meanwhile, motorists and commuters in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja went through a hectic time getting to places of work as practically all the roads around the city and satellite towns were blocked. Daily Post reporters observed that commuters were stranded at bus stops all over the city.

The traffic nightmare was said to be a direct consequence of the presidential declaration going on at the Eagles Square in the capital city. The FCT Command of the Nigeria Police Force had announced on Monday that some roads leading to the declaration venue will be closed to traffic between 5am and 8pm.

According to DailyPost reporters, roads leading from Bwari/Ushafa, Dutse/Kubwa, Maraba/Nyanya and Lugbe axis witnessed heavy slow moving traffic while some parts of the roads were completely blocked.
