In spite of the adjournment of the House of Representatives to December 3 by the Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal at its last sitting, the Punch newspaper reported that the PDP caucus in the House may reconvene the House.
Punch newspaper in its Saturday edition reported that some members of the House who did not want their names mentioned spoke to the paper that all it requires to reconvene effectively is to get 120 members signature to do so. That once they can secure that, they are good to go especially with the advantage of the Deputy Speaker being on their side.
Those who are making the move to reconvene the House are basing the step on the need to consider the 2015 budget and other sundry issues that needed early attention in the interest of the country.
The APC caucus in the House does not see any reason for reconvening on Tuesday but according to Punch, the PDP felt the adjournment to December 3 by the Speaker amounts to eating one’s cake and still having it. They see such adjournment as a tactic that will allow the House to escape any chaotic situation that may arise as a result of the Speaker’s recent defection from PDP to APC.
Meanwhile, the Speaker approached the Federal High Court for an order to restore his security details withdrawn by the Inspector General of Police (IG).
