Save a few, we all chose the wrong turn
Many miles apart our goal we missed
Signals from the polls wrong like a compass gone bad
Only leading down a wilderness of no return
Did we think it not ripe yet for high-fives and back-slaps
And right yet for our great jubilation?
Did we not mouth victory songs of the sweep in celebration
And plan a grand party to the chagrin of the vanquished?
Hmm… our eyes now opened, before us only set a dark lonely street
Round and round it goes, further it moves us away from our destination.
Blindsided, we can only wait and watch
An opportunity and a chance badly botched
What a wild miss!
