Ex-Super Falcons assistant coach, Maureen Mmadu, is totally heartbroken and devastated as a result of the death of her only son.
The bereaved, the first Nigerian women’s football coach attached to a top European club, announced the death of her son on Wednesday, but didn’t disclose the cause of his death.
Mmadu, the country’s joint most-capped footballer with former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama with 101 matches, took to social media to express how dejected she was.
“My one and only son, I can’t believe you left me this early. You had a lot of dreams, which I told you to keep trusting God,” She wrote on her WhatsApp status.
“We had a discussion that this December everything will come to pass. Oh death why? My heart is shattered. A black Wednesday for me. Rest in the bosom of our LORD. A star is gone.”
The female football star made her Falcons debut in 1993 and attended four Women’s World Cup, as well as competing at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games in an international career that spanned 18 years.
