Eventually, a magistrate court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, has admitted the embattled lawyer and human rights activist, Dele Farotimi to N30 million bail.

During the hearing of the bail application on Friday, Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun ruled in favour of Farotimi.

In his ruling, the magistrate stated that the bail conditions included two responsible sureties and required Farotimi to surrender his international passport to the court.

In addition, he was instructed not to grant media interviews while the case was ongoing.

Following a petition by an elder statesman, Afe Babalola SAN, who accused the activist of criminally defaming him in his recently-released book, “Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System,” the Ekiti State Police Command had arraigned Farotimi on December 4 after arresting him in Lagos.

He has been kept in prison custody in Ekiti since then.
