 Nigerians react to the lynching of Shehu Shagari College of Education female student in Sokoto over alleged blasphemy

A female student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education (SSCOE) Sokoto in Nigeria was beaten and burnt to death on allegations of blasphemy against prophet Muhammad on Thursday, May 12.

The Christian student, Deborah Yakubu, was accused of insulting Prophet Muhammad (SAW), after reportedly sending a voice note where she challenged her fellow students for sharing religious information in their group chat on WhatsApp.

While the government of Sokoto has ordered the immediate closure of the college, angry Nigerians have taken to Twitter to condemn the lynching of Deborah.
