The wife of Ekiti State governor, Mrs Feyisetan Fayose, has expressed serious concern over persistent increase in number of teenage pregnancies in the state and warned parents to train and monitor their children more.
She equally warned pregnant women to stop relying solely on the traditional maternity and mission homes, urging them to always register in hospitals for their ante natal care.
Mrs Fayose gave the warning at Efon Alaaye while continuing her tour of the 16 local government areas of the state ,saying the trend must stop
Her words: “Parents and guardians must monitor their girl child over the rate young girls are getting pregnant on daily basis. This bad habit has to stop in our locality
“The young girls must be discouraged from running after men, it is not good for their future, it may ruin their future” she added.
According to her, in the process of engaging in unguarded
sexual act, the girls may be infected with sexually transmitted diseases
The First Lady of the state had since the commencement of the tour distributed Mama Kits and specialised milk to pregnant women in the state
Mrs Fayose has equally distributed school bags, uniforms and sandals to some indigent students in Moba, Oye, Ilejemeje, Ijero, Ekiti West and Efon local government areas. (Daily Sun)
