The Chief Press Secretary to Ekiti State Governor, Mr Idowu Adelusi, has faulted the claim by the former Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Dr Adewale Omirin, that 18 lawmakers are on his side in the ongoing power tussle in the Assembly.

In a statement in Ado-Ekiti on Friday, the CPS challenged Omirin to prove the identities of those he is taking around Lagos and calling them members of the Ekiti House of Assembly.

He was reacting to the claim by Omirin that 19 members of the Assembly were on one side, while only seven were on the side of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He accused Omirin of parading All Progressives Congress (APC) members from Lagos and Osun states as honorable members of EKHA. “Omirin is only playing to the gallery, he went to Lagos and started going about with unknown people and parading them as members of the House of Assembly. He has drawn APC members from Osun and Lagos states to deceive people that they are members of Ekiti House of Assembly.

“They were elected into office by the people of Ekiti State and only the people of the state know who their legislators are. Can the people of Lagos know and truly identify Ekiti lawmakers?

“The answer is no. It is just as Ekiti people will not be able to identify Lagos or Osun lawmakers. Let the APC lawmakers come to Ekiti State where their people will be able to identify them and give their account of stewardship to the people.

“Omirin and his cohorts should stop staying in the darkness and throwing stones to people who are in the light. Those that have done illegal and criminal acts should also be ready to face the music. The law is not a respecter of persons,” he noted.

Adelusi appealed to well-meaning Ekiti leaders to prevail on the opposition to give peace a chance and allow development of Ekiti State. He also urged law abiding citizens of the state to go about their normal duties, saying that the new administration was ready to meet their expectations
