Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Ayodele Fayose has directed contractors handling 26 projects awarded by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to proceed with the execution of the project despite that they were awarded by the last administration.
Out of the 26 contracts awarded only two contractors have been mobilized. The Governor however said they would be allowed to execute the projects as long as the contractors met the requirements for the award and were ready to deliver good jobs.
The governor while addressing the contractors noted that he would put the interest of the people above party affiliations, saying he was aware that most of the contractors might be affiliated with the opposition party.
The state helmsman however directed representatives of the contractors who have not perfected their papers to do so in earnest and have traceable address if they were ready to continue with the projects.
He reiterated part of the agenda of his administration which stipulates that at least 40% of contracts must go to local contractors, stressing that he would enable local contractors to thrive in his administration.
Speaking on behalf of the contractors who could not hide their joy at the magnanimity of governor, Mr. Sunday Hezekiah said the gesture of the governor was very rare and assured that the contractors would reciprocate the governors kind gesture by delivering good jobs.
