Ondo State Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) has given advice that the suspected killers of the daughter of Chief Reuben Fasoranti, Mrs Funke Olakunrin, have a case to answer.

Mrs Olakunrin was killed on Benin-Owo Expressway, Ore in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo in July 2019.

The men of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad arrested four persons in connection with the incident.

The four defendants who are Muhammed Shehu, Mazaje Lawal, Adamu Adamu, and Awalu Abubakar, were arraigned before a Chief Magistrate Court, Akure, for conspiracy, kidnapping, murder and unlawful possession of firearms.

However, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs Victoria Bob-Manuel, has ordered that the matter be transferred to the state High Court.

She said her decision was based on legal advice from the DPP.

The chief magistrate then ordered the release of late Olakunrin’s driver, Femi Adeyemi, and urged the police to intensify manhunt for other members of the gang.

The Ondo Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Kola Olawoye, who presented the DPP advice before the court, said “the case would soon commence at the High Court.”

The case was adjourned till June 24, 2020, for the final review of the post-issuance of legal advice.
