When Bola Tinubu who is seeking the fifth tenure as Governor of Lagos state was departing in 2007,he brought in 14 -year -0ld buses from Brazil which were passed on to Lagosians as new.The buses were refurbished by a then AC stalwart called “Gov” and covered with polytene and launched with fanfare under the BRT schemes.Those buses are down to today as scraps.
The difference between the prices of new buses and the cost of scraps led to the fall-out between Tinubu and his former deputy,Femi Pedro who used the deal to do his own “Jeun Sapo”(pocket the money).He was eventually impeached. Fashola has followed Tinubu’s footsteps by shopping for scrap metals from Canada which he wants to pass on to Lagosians as light rail as his own legacy of sleaze.
