Former Stationary Stores (also known as Adebajo Babes) and Green Eagles player, Peter Anieke is dead. He died April 20, after a prolonged battle with acute rheumatism and arthritis. He was 68 years old.
Peter, known for his great defence skills and goal scoring, started his football career in 1967, playing for local football clubs in the Nigerian Premier Leagues before moving to play for the National team, the Green Eagles in the ’70s. He was nicknamed ‘Eusebio of Africa’ for his bravery on the field and the countless number of goals he scored while he played professional football.
He is survived by a wife and 6 children. May his soul finds a restful place and peace, amen. (Image: LIB).
