An Egyptian court of cassation has overturned a death sentence passed on former Egyptian President, Mohamed Morsi.
Morsi is Egypt’s first democratically elected President and was deposed in 2013 after serving just one year of his 4-year tenure.
The leaders of the coup which overthrew him then outlawed the Muslim Brotherhood to which Morsi belonged and he was soon sentenced to death.
However, a court judgment today ordered Morsi’s retrial, setting aside the death sentence earlier on imposed.(Photo: AP)
